How Much Does It Cost to Get Certified?
One of the most common questions we get at Perry Johnson Registrars (PJR) centers around the cost of certification. That is certainly understandable.
It’s also one of the most difficult questions to answer without having detailed information about your situation. Every certification has some things in common, and many businesses have things in common. Each situation, however, is quite unique and requires a unique scope.
What goes into pricing?
The two biggest factors that go into the cost of certification are:
- Scope of work
- Employee count
With these two pieces of information, a very rough estimate of audit duration and associated costs can be determined.
To provide an accurate quote, though, someone from the organization seeking certification must fill out a detailed application. With that detailed information, PJR can offer an accurate quote. A quote will be based on additional factors, including but not limited to:
- How many days will it take to complete the audit
- Fixed costs (see next section)
- Surveillance costs
- Travel costs
Once a detailed quote is given, that is the price you will pay. With PJR, there are no hidden costs or “surprise” fees.
Are There Any Fixed Costs?
Yes. There is a one-time certification fee, which is good for the three-year duration of the certificate. Here’s a breakdown of fees for 1 standard and 1 facility in the US priced in USD. More standards and more locations will cost more than what is shown here, and fees in other countries may vary:
| Employee Count | U.S. Fees (USD) |
|---|---|
| 1 to 99 | $315.00 |
| 100-499 | $415.00 |
| 500+ | $565.00 |
There is also an annual file maintenance fee that can vary based on employee count and type of certification. Special accreditation seals and/or special standards’ requirements may add to your audit costs. This is another part of the overall price that can be accurately quoted after sending an application form to PJR.
How does PJR keep costs as low as possible?
One area in which we can keep costs to a minimum is travel.
First, travel, lodging and per diem are billed at cost. We do not add any additional fees or surcharges for travel expenses.
PJR also has an extremely large cadre of auditors spread around the world. Because of this, we are often able to keep travel costs down by finding an auditor close to the customer location. Of course, depending on scheduling, certification type and your location, we cannot guarantee that an local auditor will be available.
Worried that your company is too small for PJR?
Don’t be! PJR understands the needs of small businesses, even those with only 1 or 2 employees. Our Small Business Program recognizes that SMBs are a major part of the foundation that made us successful. Our dedicated team can work with the smallest – and the largest of clients.
